Twisted Olive Cafe – Petoskey

Breakfast & Lunch @ the Twisted Olive Cafe

Dad and I went to the Twisted Olive Cafe (319 Bay Street, Petoskey, MI) for lunch yesterday. The Twisted Olive Cafe opened in early December and has been doing a brisk business since day one.

The Twisted Olive serves food with a Mediterranean flare – breakfast & lunch – no wine or beer, but great coffee from Higher Grounds in Traverse City. The cafe is available to rent for private parties in the evening.

Dad had the Greek salad for lunch and I had the Roasted Veggie Sandwich which comes in pita bread. The roasted veggies were great, but the pita was so thin that the sandwich fell apart. I’d prefer a wrap or just having the veggies on a plate with thicker slices of pita to scoop it up with… but it was delicious! Lunch prices range from $6 – $9 – though a bowl of soup is $4.75.

My dad is a vegetarian – he thinks of himself as a vegan, but he’s really only about 85% vegan. Still, it’s a challenge to find a good variety of restaurant fare in Petoskey as most meals include meat, fish or cheese. The vegetable soup at the Twisted Olive had a chicken stock which wouldn’t be acceptable to him, but he’s not a soup guy anyway.

I had a cup of chicken soup with my sandwich which was not only delicious, but just what the doctor ordered as I am still fighting a cold.

On my earlier visit to the Twisted Olive Cafe for breakfast, I had the Spinach & Chard Baked Eggs which were absolutely awesome. Breakfast prices range from $7 – $9.

The Twisted Olive Cafe only seats about 30. The dining room has a wonderful view of Little Traverse Bay on Lake Michigan. There’s a small back deck which will, hopefully, be expanded for more outdoor dining in the summer.

The Twisted Olive Cafe is a wonderful addition to downtown dining in Petoskey.
