Cava Food & City Park Grill Music
Last night I ventured out to Cava in Bay Harbor for dinner and wine. Johnny at the bar provided excellent service. I didn’t note the 2 Cabarnets he served me but they were very nice. To eat, I had the Chop Chop salad and the Baked Mac.
The food was good as was the North Carolina / Pittsburgh game on the tube. The floor show was also interesting – an eclectic group of people showing up to wine and dine at Cava. I don’t know if they were residents of Bay Harbor, Petoskey or just upstate for the holidays.
P
eople are fascinating creatures, don’t you think? There were a few couples at Cava with at least a 20 year age difference in play. A group of 6 or 8 kids showed up for dinner without the parents.
I’ve been to Cava 3 times and have yet to make it into the dining room or up to the second floor. I suppose all of my survival and entertainment needs are being satisfied at the bar! Thank you Johnny!
After dinner at Cava, I ventured over to the City Park Grill in Petoskey, MI. I’ve also been to the City Park Grill 3 times. Perhaps I’m just “fair & balanced” in my patronage! Sitting at the City Park Grill bar, sipping another Cabarnet, I watched the musicians setting up. Most of the bar stools were empty, so I created space to stretch out and watch the show.
About the time the music started a group of four wild and woolly young men showed up and changed the nature of my “open space.”
One young gent in a “BF Goodrich cap was friendly and considerate. He took care to minimize the impact on “my space” and explained that they were just out to get wild on Saturday night – which they did! Jack Daniels seemed to be a very good friend of the group, so I bought the gent a shot to help him on his way.
The musicians were very good – I wish I had gotten the group’s name. The bass player has the talent and presentation to make a name for himself – as does the lead guitar player, though I think he could use a little more entertaining showmanship. The best interaction was a moment between him and the conga player. This group probably has a good following – well deserved.
After an hour or so of music and another glass of red, it was time to buy the band a round and head on home. A delightful Saturday night in Petoskey, MI.
